I think it's a dream since the kids are in the same clothes, doing the same thing at the same place.
Some may argue that if he was still in the dream and after his wife's death (back to reality) she would have "kicked" him to get him back to reality but had they used sedative, wouldn't she be in limbo state??

and plus he told the crew that his wife and him made layers and layers of dreams... sooo

i think that was an indication of sequel maybe
it was a dream coz that thing never stopped spinning i was expecting it to stop spinning

He never woke up from the 2nd dream, that totem was still spinning in his 2nd dream, my guess is that he has put more of his memories in his dream or changed it a lil bit here and there to make it seem more realistic. But he didn't not die in any of those dreams, so he isn't in a loop hole that's for sure.

My theory is that he came back to reality. He and Saito were in Limbo and he reached for the gun, that was the kick. Since you can't die in your dreams, they both shot each other and were back in reality.

There will not be a sequel.

The top was spinning at first then wobbled, maybe this means that he has accepted his dream as reality. I don't at all think he got back to the real reality.

If I know Nolan's "cunning" (I didn't know which other word to use - this might sound nasty but well..) well enough, I know that the end is positive, though he abruptly stopped the scene in the middle, before which though the totem started wobbling a bit, deliberately to make the viewers think. OMG it's so delicious I want to go for it again. Only this time I'll analyse it an then I'll be able to give a clearer picture to this :P

he's still dreaming, and the fact that the movie stops abruptly (before the thing wobbles) accounts for a loose ending for a sequel...may be!

LOL, this kind of movie doesn't seem like the type with a sequel. Shutter Island had a open ending too where you decide.

I think he was still dreaming..simply because that thing kept on spinning but at the same time it seemed like it was about to stop! Haha..everyone at the theater was like..oh come on man!!

LOL, my theater was like "WHAT?" "AHH" "NO" then right after that there was applause. It made me laugh.

^^Hehe..there was a big round of applause at my theater as well..after all the whining about the ending lol!

Dude! The director Wanted to keep it that way...I mean after watching the movie, he wanted to audiences to ponder whether if it was a dream or reality. The world we are living in is not real it might still be a dream It doesn't mean he wants to do a sequel. I agree that it was not correct on the director's part to kill his wife in reality...since once they commit suicide in the train, she is supposed to not WAKE UP but go into a limbo unknown space in dreams. Only way this can be right is, if the entire movie they shot was nothing but leanardo's dream.

Arguably one of the best movies Ive seen in recent times. Ive never seen an entire theater audience standing up and applauding at the end in my life time.

He's back to reality, even though it was really easy to get out of the limbo. They made it sound like it was impossible, took him 50 years before, and this time all he had to do was kill himself?

But it's interesting that you say the kids were wearing the same clothes, i didn't even notice that, and now that i think about it that's a huge point.
